About Regenerative Orthopedic Medicine

Regenerative Orthopedic Medicine has the potential to change the way in which medicine is practiced in the 21st century.  Regenerative Orthopedics is an emerging field in the treatment and repair of osteoarthritis in humans. Employing the patient’s own human growth factors and adult stem cells contained in tissues throughout the body, regenerative procedures concentrate them at sites of pain and injury.  As opposed to surgery or drug therapy, Regenerative Orthopedics mobilizes the human body’s repair mechanism to heal degenerated or damaged tissue.

Regenerative Orthopedics consists of non-surgical injection therapy to treat common work or sports injuries, including degenerative joint problems, or just “wear and tear” injuries to tendons, ligaments, cartilage, and discs that result in acute or chronic pain, as well as compromised athletic performance.

Using the patient’s own adult stem cells along with growth factors contained in the patient’s blood, regenerative injections reverse pro-inflammatory, destructive processes within a joint or spinal disc and create an environment in which the body’s damaged tissues can re-grow and repair themselves without invasive surgery. Traditional orthopedic medicine and pain management use surgery and steroid injections to remove damaged tissue and to mask symptoms.  Regenerative Orthopedic Medicine uses the body’s own ability to heal itself to allow healthy tissue to flourish and eliminate symptoms.

Regenerative Orthopedic Medicine

When tissue such as muscle, tendon, ligament or cartilage is injured or simply degenerates, your body attempts to heal through its own repair mechanisms. In areas where there is limited blood flow-such as cartilage-the body is unable to heal the injury adequately, or even at all.  This often results in acute or chronic pain, weakness, swelling, loss of range of motion and the sense that the joints and spine are “glued together”, stiff, and unable to hold you up.  The goal with Regenerative Orthopedic Medicine is to stimulate and support the natural healing process in order to actually heal, repair or even “grow back” the damaged tissue, rather than simply treating the symptoms.

Regenerative Orthopedic Medicine provides the promise of long term comfort and mobility to patients suffering from arthritis of the knee, hip, neck, and back.  Regenerative Orthopedics offers non-surgical treatment of injuries to cartilage or cartilage degeneration, including meniscus tears of the knee, labral tears of the hip, and annular tears of the lumbar and cervical discs. Regenerative Orthopedic injections can treat tears of tendons such as the shoulder rotator cuff, patellar knee tendon, Achilles tendon, tennis elbow and golfer’s elbow. Regenerative Orthopedic Medicine can also treat tears in ligaments including knee anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), medial collateral ligament (MCL), and elbow ulnar collateral ligament (UCL).

If you are seeking to rejuvenate joints, tendons, ligaments, cartilage, or discs so that you experience relief from pain and loss of mobility to an acceptable level to allow you to return to normal daily activities or perhaps perform better in the athletic and sports activities you wish to enjoy, Regenerative Orthopedic Medicine can offer you the possibility of healing yourself naturally, without surgery, by concentrating your body’s ability to heal itself.
